iHierarchy is available in two versions, a static HTML version and a dynamic HTML version. The static HTML version of iHierarchy generates an HTML page for every category in the Open Directory Project (ODP) directory, whereas the dynamic HTML version stores the category information in a SQL database and dynamically generates HTML pages for each category on-the-fly. The separate versions reflect the trade-offs involving disk space requirements and processor usage. The static HTML version requires more hard disk space, but uses less processing power, when compared to the dynamic HTML version.

iHierarchy, in conjuction with the ODP Search software, can provide a full copy of the ODP for a website. The software is designed to handle large server loads.
